I’ve been feeling blue lately, with everything that’s been going on.
Tonight, after years, I found myself listening to Hayedeh again.
I usually stay away from songs that are too emotional, too deep. Maybe because some feelings are easier to keep quiet than to let them speak.
But tonight, I needed them.
I needed a little silence. A little time alone with myself.
I found an old pack of cigarettes my mom had left behind here from years ago. I lit one, stepped out onto the balcony, and watched the rain fall into the darkness.
I turned on the fire pit, turned up my music, and just sat there.
The rain ...
The fire ...
Hayedeh’s voice ...
The smoke disappearing into the night...And for a while, I got lost in my thoughts: some old, some new, some I wish I could forget, some I could live again...
Maybe some nights aren’t meant to be fixed.
Maybe they’re just meant to be felt........

Today is World Quantum Day—April 14 (4/14). A day meant to celebrate quantum mechanics and its impact on the world.
It made me think of Max Planck.
Back in high school, I admired him so much that some of my friends used to call me by his name. It feels almost distant now, but I remember how deeply I wanted to become a physicist. He wasn’t just a scientist to me—he was a symbol of curiosity, depth, and possibility.
I was accepted as one of the top three students into a top university back home to study physics. I remember how proud and excited I felt… like I was stepping into the life I had imagined for myself.
But my mom didn’t believe that path would give me a stable or bright future there. She encouraged me to choose engineering instead.
And I did.
Today, I find myself wondering… was it the right decision? Or was it the moment I quietly stepped away from something that once felt like me?
I don’t regret who I became—but a small part of me still wonders about the version of me who chose physics.

I shared this on my Facebook nine years ago today. I don’t know the original author, but it really spoke to my heart back then—and still does—so I wanted to share it again.

Sometimes memories rise up without warning.
A scene in a movie… a familiar silence… a moment where a
woman speaks, but her voice isn’t heard. And suddenly I’m taken back to the
times when I lived inside that silence myself—when I wasn’t listened to, when
the blame fell on me without a word spoken, when my feelings were invisible.
Now they teach me.
They remind me why choosing separation was an act of self-respect, not loss. A moment of reclaiming my voice after years of being silenced. A step toward a life where I no longer have to shrink myself to keep the peace, or carry the weight of someone else’s unhappiness.
Today, when those old memories surface, I no longer feel trapped.
I feel grateful.
Grateful that I walked away from a place where I wasn’t heard.
Grateful that I no longer have to tolerate the coldness of
being blamed for things that were never mine to carry.
Grateful that I am building a life where my feelings matter,
where my voice is allowed to exist, where calm is no longer something I have to
fight for.
This separation wasn’t the end of something good.
It was the beginning of something kinder.
A beginning where I finally choose myself
